Advantages of Hiring a Professional Plumber

Things to Prepare in Improving Your Plumbing System

Frozen water pipes are the most typical cause of burst pipes. Most homeowners believe it is because the water is warm enough to not freeze. However, this is not the case. Water always freezes at a specific temperature. If the water is maintained at a temperature below the freezing point, it does not freeze. The only time it will freeze is if the water is maintained at a temperature above the freezing point. So, the first thing you have to do is to check if the water pipes in your home are free of frozen water. If they are, you have to defrost them. You can do this by running warm water from the faucet until the pipes are defrosted or by hiring a reliable plumber to check your water system.

Remove the Tainted Water:

If you have ice in your pipes or suspect that your water has been contaminated, you need to get rid of it. You can do this by cranking open your cold water faucet for at least a minute. Crank the faucet hard and quickly. If the water does not come out immediately, try cranking it again. The water will rush from your cold water pipes into your hot water pipes. However, if your water is discolored and smells, switch to another faucet.

Turn Off the Water:

Turn off the main water valve and the water faucets. This makes sure that any water that is in the pipes will not flow. If the pipes are still leaking and you have a pressure-reducing valve, turn it off. Leave the pipes to cool down. When the pipes have cooled, you can turn on the faucets. You can leave the pipes to heat up before you can turn on the faucets. Once the pipes are warm, you can turn on the faucets.

Call a Plumber:

Once you have satisfied the conditions, you can turn on the faucets. However, before you do, call a plumber to fix your pipes. It is best to call a plumber to do this first before you turn on the faucets. If you turn on the faucets before you call a plumber, you risk scalding or making things worse.
