Valuable Tips From an Experienced Plumber

How to Avoid Issues With Your Plumbing System

Many homeowners don’t think about the condition of their plumbing until they need to hire a plumber. We understand that everyone has a lot on their plate and thinking about plumbing is never a top priority, however, there are some things that should become part of our routines to keep our home safe. To make it easier for you, we have created a list of the things you should do to keep your plumbing running smoothly for as long as possible.

Clean your drains once a month

Hair, shampoo, conditioner, and other gunk can quickly build up and cause clogs. To prevent that from happening, try getting into the habit of cleaning your drains every month.

Fix recurring issues

If there are leakages and other recurring problems with your faucets and other plumbing fixtures, be sure to fix them before it becomes worse. It may be something small but you never know what it may lead to. If you don’t know how to do the fix yourself, be sure to hire professionals.

Stop debris from getting into the pipes

Use a simple mesh drain cover to prevent any hair and other debris from entering the pipes. This way you can just clean up the cover when needed and not have to deal with any clogs and more serious pipe cleaning.

Don’t put grease down the drain

When cooking, we sometimes don’t think too much about where the grease will end up and put pots and pans straight into the sink. However, you should try to steer clear from getting any grease in your drains. Better pour it in a container and throw it out with the trash.

These are just some of the things you can do to keep your plumbing in top condition. If you need someone to check it out or fix issues, call Joseph Plumbing & Drain Cleaning LLC. I’m an experienced plumber and serve the entire College Park, MD area. Dial (240) 262-5277 today to find out more!
